Small restaurant, Big tastes

Off the Hook, carefully crafts each meal to order and the results are both beautiful and delicious. The service here was outstanding. We enjoyed the potent potables especially the beer and wine selection. The spicy calamari appetizer was crispy on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. I enjoyed the rare cooked sushi grade fresh Tuna over black Quinoa while my companions swooned over the Tomato based fish stew and the butchers cut steak and potatoes. Please leave some room for desert. You don't want to miss the creamy Key lime pie.

Always topnotch food and service – best in Bethany

My husband and I have been eating at Off the Hook ever since it opened. We've yet to have a bad or even so-so meal. Their fried calamari is the best we've ever had - incredibly tender with just the right dusting of fry and some moderately spicy sauce on the side. The bartender(s), hostess and wait staff are always friendly. In season you'll wait to get in. And off season you may wait too as the area becomes more populated with retirees. The restaurant uses fresh, local ingredients and identfies the farms and other sources. By far the most consistently excellent restaurant in Bethany. We've been in Bethany several months each year for, hmm, 30 years and have tried them all. I will slide in a pitch for a new discovery that is very different but also very very good - Good Earth Market & Organic Farm - farther out 26 than Off the Hook but worth the drive.

Best calamari ever!

My family and I ate here last night and enjoyed a fabulous dinner, starting with calamari and the corn & crab bisque (fantastic!), followed by two orders of swordfish and two orders of scallops. Everything was hot and absolutely delicious. The server was attentive and pleasant. We arrived early (5:45 pm) on a Saturday and got the last table so get there early!

We were in town for an overnight visit and decided to go to Off the Hook as we had been to Hooked about two years ago during a visit to OC. The food was exceptional. Not sure about other reviews, as our food was really excellent. We started with some good cocktails and wine. I had the Caesar salad and then the Ahi crusted tuna with some kind of awesome spicy red rice. My wife had the salmon entree. Both were really fine dining quality. We consider ourselves foodies and this hit the spot. We found out it was ladies night Wed with 1/2 off the ladies bill. That made it even better ! In general service was good, but our waitress, was not as attentive as she should have been. Even if she is from another country, she seemed a little off. My wife ordered a margarita and i literally heard the bartender ask if it needed salt on the rim and our server yelled out from the back that it didnt matter. Didn’t bother to come and ask my wife. And it does matter. What matters more is that you should ask your customer what they want. I was close to putting 3 stars due to the service, but the food is just too good. If you haven’t tried it yet, you need to!

Fresh, fresh, fresh seafood!

A small but mighty place to dine in Bethany Beach, DE, Off The Hook is absolutely delicious. All their food is locally sourced, prepared superbly and the staff is friendly, funny and fast. I had the scallops with grits and some spicey seasonings (ask if you are sensitive to spices, I am and should have asked. But worth every bite.) Key Lime pie for dessert. Hubby had a HUGE portion of the lightest battered fish n’ chips with hand cut French fries. Delicious! He had tiramisu for dessert. Absolutely yummy all around and get there early, because it fills up quickly.
